Happy Monday Flower Lovers!
As you may or may not know, National Grandparents Day is on September 8th. That means it’s time to start preparing to show your love for the most loving and comforting people! If you can’t be with your grandparents, send a beautiful bouquet from Calyx Flowers like the Lavender Love Bouquet (shown) Summer Melody Bouquet or Delphiniums & Lilies. They’ll be sure to feel the love, regardless of how far apart you are.
If you’ve lost grandparents along the way, send flowers to your parents or your spouses parents! All parents, grand and not, love flowers and love being appreciated even more.
Maybe your Grandmother made you homemade cookies or taught you how to play cards – say thank you with something beautiful! And don’t forget Grandpa, all those games of catch and trips to the candy store certainly deserve to be rewarded.
Send a little love with Calyx and let the people in your life know how much you care.

How much do you know about Anthuriums? Well, let us fill you in!
Gorgeous Red Anthurium Plants
Pistachio Anthurium Bouquet
Common names for the Anthurium are Flamingo flower, Tail Flower, Oilcloth Flower, and Painters palette. Anthurium leaves are actually waxy bracts called ‘spaths’ and are heart shaped. While most known for being red, Anthuriums come in burgundy, pink, hot pink, dark pink, red-orange, orange, salmon, yellow, green, purple, cream, white, brown, and multi-colored!
These tropical flowers can last in your home from 8 to 21 days. Surprisingly, the longer the stem the longer the stem life.
Anthuriums really are a taste of the tropics – they are only native to tropical rain forests of Central and South America.
So, as the weather starts to cool down – bring a real piece of the tropics into your home with an Anthurium bouquet! You’ll be able to tell all of your guests who comment how beautiful they are all of the fun facts you learned here!

August is the month of the Sunflower – beautiful sunshine and sunny skies! We’re proud to offer several bouquets featuring the late summer flower such as Tuscan Sunflower Bouquet.
Did you know? These native American flowers were originally grown more for their usefulness than their beauty, as the oil from sunflower seeds is used for food, soap, paint and cosmetics.
Check out Calyx Flower’s selection and bring some sunshine into your home today!

Over the past week the Calyx Flowers team (with the help of the photographic genius of John Goodman) created fabulous floral sensations for our 2013 holiday catalogs. Here is a little look around the studio. We may be cramped for space but that doesn’t offset the brilliant bouquets that came to life on set.
Our Holiday catalogs will be in home beginning in November. Are you on our mailing list yet? If not, click here!

AmericasMart in downtown Atlanta, Georgia
The “High Design” Floor
Well I have wrapped up another successful buying and sourcing trip to AmericasMart in Atlanta where lots of great products were found. I saw some wonderful showrooms filled with designer vases and cachepots that I know will look absolutely exquisite when paired with an exclusive Calyx “look.”
The show was definitely busier this time than it has been the past five seasons. Hopefully it is a good indicator that the retail economy is on an upswing.
Bright & colorful creations at the Fringe Studio showroom
The color palette was across the board at the show. Blues are definitely trending but there was not a dominant color theme in the showrooms as I walked the floor after floor. There’s still a lot of sparkle and bling out there as well as an “earthy” feel to many products so it really runs the gamut. Holiday patterns and tones were vivid and strong.
On Friday, the temporaries open and I find myself swept away by the offerings in the High Design section. I also love to walk the Gourmet floor and taste the many samples the different vendors offer. This is how we were introduced to our current truffles and carmel supplier, Mary Ann’s Chocolates. One bite was pure bliss!
I look forward to the next show in 2014. I’ll catch the MARTA once again and head to downtown Atlanta, ready for more treasure hunting.
