Delphinium & Lilies

Delphinium & Lilies

Every season is a new adventure and it’s always interesting to see what bouquets our loyal customers are going to pick as their personal favorites to send. One bouquet in particular has really taken flight since its first introduction back in Spring 2008 – Delphinium & Lilies.
From its inception this bouquet gained a large flower lover following and we’re never ceased by how many choose to send the bouquet for a variety of reasons – birthdays, anniversaries or just because. I think one of the most appealing attributes of the bouquet is the striking blue color of the delphiniums. They are tall flowers like lilies but they bloom in a profusion of blossoms graduated up the stem. Delphiniums are known to have dark or white small flower centers called “bees.” Too cute!

Flower Fact: the name delphinium is from the Greek word delphis, meaning dolphin, the buds being said to resemble a dolphin’s snout. (Flowers A to Z: A Practical Guide to Buying, Growing, Cutting, Arranging by Cecelia Heffernan)

Thus the combination of the casually unique delphinium surrounded by the pure white blossoms of Asiatic lilies makes for a perfect bouquet, perfect to give on any occasion. I hope you’ll enjoy this bouquet in the near future like many of the Calyx Flowers flower lovers. Have a wonderful day!
